Tree of Life Christian Schools is affiliated with two athletic associations, the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) in the Central District, and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). We pledge to not only adhere to their jurisdiction to the letter of the law but also to the spirit of the law. In addition, we compete in the Mid-Ohio Christian Athletic League (M.O.C.A.L.).

Athletics is one of the many components involved in Tree of Life's desire to educate the whole person. Our objective is to keep athletics in proper perspective as they relate to the other activities offered by the school, the church, and the family. We view athletics as an opportunity to develop character, Christian attitude, and physical skills by competing against athletes from similar institutions.

We would like our athletes to develop these character traits as a result of their participation in our program:

  • Integrity
  • Responsible Citizens
  • Respectful Persons
  • Persons who show Care and Love
  • Persons who serve God

At Tree of Life Christian Schools, we believe that fitness and athletics are key components of our students' physical and spiritual development. We recognize each student's individual abilities and emphasize unity, rather than uniformity. From our K-12 gym classes to our Middle and High School competitive sports, we have designed programs that produce winners on and off the playing field. Our coaches and instructors view themselves as mentors, dedicated to producing both godly character and practical skills that lead to a lifelong love of fitness and cooperative effort. Our athletes strive not only to win, but to demonstrate the highest standards of fair play and to exemplify God's grace to their teammates and rivals alike. Representing Tree of Life on the field of play is a privilege. Our student athletes are required to work hard in the classroom, not just the gym. As a result of our high standards and integrated vision for both athletic and academic achievement, Tree enjoys a high level of school spirit that energizes our community and inspires all of our students.

Middle School and High School

NOTE: According to State Department of Education requirements, school sponsored interscholastic athletics are not permitted for students in kindergarten through grade 6.

  • In order to be eligible to try out a student must have no failing grades in the previous 9 weeks.
  • A student must have a 'C' average (2.0) or above of all grades based on their credit value.
  • To maintain eligibility to participate, a student must have a minimum of a 2.0 average for the previous grading period and have no failing grades at the end of the previous grading period and/or midterm report.
  • Midterm checks of all athletes' grades will be conducted during the active season. Failing any class, or failing to maintain a 2.0 average of all classes, will result in a suspension from the team until notification to the Athletic Director indicates a passing grade. Students will be responsible to verify academic improvement to the Athletic Director. This is necessary for re-entry into a sport.
  • Eligibility includes standards established by the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA). Tree of Life Christian Schools' academic standards exceed those of OHSAA.
  • Grades received for the fourth term in grades 7-11 will determine eligibility for participation in the fall athletic program.
  • Summer school grades and career center grades cannot be used to determine athletic eligibility.
