High School Athletics Overview

Athletics Philosophy

Athletics is one of the many components involved in Tree of Life's desire to educate the whole person. Our objective is to keep athletics in proper perspective as they relate to the other activities offered by the school, the church, and the family. We view athletics as an opportunity to develop character, Christian attitude, and physical skills by competing against athletes from similar institutions.

We would like our athletes to develop these character traits as a result of their participation in our program:

  • Integrity
  • Responsible Citizens
  • Respectful Persons
  • Persons who show Care and Love
  • Persons who serve God

Athletic Memberships

Tree of Life Christian Schools is affiliated with two athletic associations, the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). We pledge to not only adhere to their jurisdiction to the letter of the law but also to the spirit of the law.

Our high school teams compete in the Mid-Ohio Christian Athletic League (M.O.C.A.L.). In addition, our girls' basketball and volleyball teams are members of the Buckeye Girls' League while our boys' basketball team also competes in the Central Athletic Conference (C.A.C.). Each of our teams participate in a season ending tournament with either the OHSAA or ACSI.

About Our Coaching Staff

Our coaches are hired after a thorough interview process which focuses on their personal testimony of their Christian life, their maturity level, their leadership abilities, and their knowledge of the sport. We want our athletes to treat our staff with respect at all times and we recruit the type of individuals who have personal discipline to earn and keep their athletes' respect. We want our coaches to teach and guide our athletes in physical, emotional and spiritual development while encouraging them in their educational pursuits.

We require our coaching staff to maintain the State of Ohio "Pupil Activity Supervisor" certification and current certification in first-aid and CPR. We encourage our coaching staff to attend and to lead seminars in their field of specialty.
