High School Choir
Overview
It is our desire at Tree of Life to provide a God-honoring atmosphere for all students to explore and develop their musical abilities, showing themselves to be good stewards of God's gifts to them, and enjoying good music with their fellow students.
While the Middle School choir is designed to introduce 7th and 8th graders to a formal choral experience, such as proper vocal technique, and 3 or 4 part singing, the High School choir further develops this knowledge and experience, introducing more complicated works, and fine-tuning the students' individual choral abilities. They perform during two major events per year, the Thanksgiving / Christmas Concert and the Spring Festival.
O.M.E.A. Contest
The O.M.E.A. (Ohio Music Education Association) provides music contest opportunities for student participation every year. This event affords students the challenge of participating in a solo, small ensemble, and/or large group. The student(s) receive a written evaluation and a rating from an experienced music teacher and judge. We encourage all students to consider this beneficial experience.
Music Boosters
The Music Boosters organization, founded in 1992, takes on the task of helping to raise funds for the music department to buy needed equipment and instruments that cannot be afforded through the regular budget. They are committed to discovering creative resources that are available beyond immediate school families and friends. The support, involvement, and creative ideas from all parents who have students in the music program is greatly encouraged.
Performance Tours
Every other year, the choir will take a tour to perform at predetermined venues. The purpose of the tour is to:
- represent the school in different areas of the country
- provide ministry opportunities for the students
- build camaraderie among choir members
- create lifelong memories
