Ski Club

The Tree of Life Ski Club is an extra-curricular activity that is provided for the students on a weekly basis. As far as level of ability goes, there is no requirement needed in order to participate.

Ski Club begins at the beginning of the second semester (right after Christmas break) and usually lasts approximately seven weeks (depending on weather conditions). The students pay up-front for the seven weeks and are then allowed to ski after the seven weeks are over on their own time. The cost of ski club will vary depending on what level of ability the student has, and whether or not they have their own equipment. Included in the cost of ski club is the price of a charter bus.

So where do we go to ski in Ohio? Mad River Mountain is the ski resort with which we are associated this year. Every Thursday afternoon the bus leaves the school grounds at 3:15 and we are usually on the slopes by 4:30! We return to the school usually between 9:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. after a brief stop at McDonald's.

This year the Tree of Life Ski Club has approximately 46 members and 3 chaperones. One of the advantages of Ski Club is that the students are allowed to participate in either skiing or snowboarding, which happens to be a very popular and quickly growing sport. Snow Trails has great facilities and their rental equipment is very good.

The Tree of Life Ski Club is a great opportunity for students to learn something new and discover a physical ability that they never thought they had. It is obviously an individual activity but the social benefits are also very easy to see.
